From Miriam, Deborah, and Huldah in the Old Testament to Anna and Philip’s daughters in the New Testament, the Bible affirms that the prophetic gift is not limited by gender. While the term "prophetess" is sometimes used to describe women, the role and function are the same as that of a prophet—someone who speaks on behalf of God. The distinction in wording doesn’t imply a difference in authority or calling.
